Bam Bam is Ubud's main padel venue and the clearest example on the island of a venue that has thought about what happens after the game. Five panoramic courts sit under a full roof — the venue's own line is "no rain and no sunshine in the eyes" — and every booking includes the recovery wing: dry sauna, steam bath, saltwater jacuzzi and ice barrels held at 10°C and 4°C. Most Bali venues with a spa charge for it separately.
Every court carries a Pushit camera, so a match can be replayed afterwards. For a group working on anything technical that is more useful than a coach's description, and it is included rather than an add-on.
Pricing is per player: Rp110.000 for sixty minutes and Rp150.000 for ninety, with happy hour from Rp77.000 — twenty per cent off between 07:00 and 09:00 and 20:00 and 22:00 on weekdays, and better again at weekends. Under-fifteens play at half price, which does not combine with happy hour. There is no minimum group size and no membership, so two people can book a court and pay for two.
The venue is family-run and it shows in the details: a Kids Academy, a canteen cafe with homemade gelato above the courts so people can watch the game below, three Spanish-certified coaches, and level-based WhatsApp groups for finding open matches and weekly Americanos. Towels are the one thing not included, at Rp15.000.
Getting there
Jl. Cempaka in Mas, five minutes south of central Ubud, with parking on site. The honest caveat is the drive: from Canggu or Seminyak this is an hour or more each way, and reviewers who based themselves on the coast consistently underestimate it. From Ubud it is nothing.
Running a session here
Bam Bam Padel has 5 courts, and a 90-minute booking is the slot to plan around. That fixes almost everything else about the evening.
- Bring 20 to 26 players. 20 is everyone on court every round; past that you are running a sit-out queue, which is fine but somebody has to track it.
- Expect about 6 rounds once you take out warm-up and changeovers — play each to 32 points so every court finishes together and the scores stay comparable.
- At 26 players, 6 people sit out each round. 5 courts tops out at 26 players before the sit-out queue is longer than the court time.
Formats that fit
- Americano a full rotation at 20 players is 19 rounds and the booking holds 6, so you play a slice of it. Fine for an evening, but the standings are a snapshot rather than a complete table.
- Mexicano re-pairs by the standings each round, so the games stay close. 6 rounds is enough for the table to mean something.
- King of the Court needs about 10 rounds to climb 5 courts, and the booking gives 6.
| Courts | Everyone plays | Up to |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 4 | 5 |
| 2 | 8 | 10 |
| 3 | 12 | 16 |
| 4 | 16 | 21 |
| 5 | 20 | 26 |
Five courts is twenty on court and a ceiling of twenty-six. At twenty a full Americano needs nineteen rounds and ninety minutes gives six at 32 points or thirteen at 16, so a group that size runs a Mexicano — one target, set once, and the leaderboard carries it.
For twelve people, three courts at 16 points gives thirteen rounds against the eleven an Americano needs, and the rotation finishes. That is the size to aim for if you want a format with a proper winner rather than a leaderboard.
Happy hour is worth building the session around. Rp77.000 against Rp110.000 a head is a third off, and the windows — early morning and after eight — are exactly when a weekday group can actually meet. All day at weekends.
Because the spa is included, a ninety-minute booking here occupies a group for considerably longer than ninety minutes. Tell people that before they plan the rest of the evening, and put the sit-outs in the sauna rather than on a bench.
