Bali Sports Club: one court, and half-hour blocks nobody else sells

Bali Sports Club is the smallest venue in this city and the only single-court one: one covered, ventilated, double-glass court in Legian, floodlit for evening play, with a table tennis table beside it and a pro shop at the desk. It opened in 2022 and the reviews all say the same thing in different words — small, clean, well kept, and staffed by people who will show you how to play if you have never held a racket.
Two things make it structurally different from everything else on the island. The first is that you rent the court and not a seat: Rp400.000 an hour whether two of you play or four, which at four people is Rp100.000 each and among the cheapest padel in south Bali. The second is the thirty-minute block — Rp200.000 — which nobody else sells and which is exactly right for a first look at the sport.
Coaching is led by Lucas, an Argentinian pro who plays and wins local open tournaments, and takes one to four players. Rackets are Rp50.000 and balls Rp130.000 to Rp150.000 a tube. There is free parking and WiFi, changing rooms and showers, and no membership of any kind.
Getting there
Jl. Grand Dewi Sri in Legian, inside easy reach of Kuta and Seminyak and about as central as the south-Bali tourist strip gets. Free parking, which in Legian is not nothing.
Running a session here
Bali Sports Club has one court, and a 60-minute booking is the slot to plan around. That fixes almost everything else about the evening.
- Bring 4 to 5 players. 4 is everyone on court every round; past that you are running a sit-out queue, which is fine but somebody has to track it.
- Expect about 6 rounds once you take out warm-up and changeovers — play each to 21 points so every court finishes together and the scores stay comparable.
- At 5 players, 1 person sits out each round. One court tops out at 5 players before the sit-out queue is longer than the court time.
Formats that fit
- Americano every pair partners every other pair inside the booking — 3 rounds, and you have 6.
- Mexicano re-pairs by the standings each round, so the games stay close. 6 rounds is enough for the table to mean something.
- King of the Court winners move up a court, losers move down. Works from 2 rounds on one court.
One court is four on court and a ceiling of five. This is the one venue in the city where a full Americano finishes easily — four players need three rounds and an hour gives six at 21 points or eight at 16 — so if you have exactly four people and want a proper rotation with a winner, this is the cheapest way to get one.
A fifth person is fine and a sixth is not. At five, one player sits out each round and the rotation still works; beyond that you are paying for a court to stand next to.
The half-hour block is the right introduction for someone who has never played. Thirty minutes at Rp200.000, with a racket at Rp50.000, is a genuinely low-risk way to find out whether they like it — and every other venue's minimum is an hour or ninety minutes.
Book ahead in the evenings. One court means one booking at a time, and the venue's own note says peak availability tightens; there is no second court to fall back on.
Common questions
- How many courts does Bali Sports Club have?
- One — a covered, ventilated, double-glass court with floodlights, plus a table tennis table on the same site.
- What does it cost?
- Rp200.000 for thirty minutes, Rp400.000 for an hour, Rp600.000 for ninety minutes and Rp800.000 for two hours. The price is for the court, not per person, so four players share it.
- Is it good for beginners?
- It is the easiest start on the island: thirty-minute blocks, rackets at Rp50.000, no membership, and coaching from an Argentinian pro who takes one to four players.
