Platinum Padel is a conversion, and an ambitious one: five international-standard courts built over the outdoor parking deck of Golden City Mall in Dukuh Pakis. The site was designed by a specialist court builder, and the result is a covered five-court venue in the middle of a shopping centre — which in Surabaya's traffic is a genuinely useful place for one to be.
The venue positions itself at the luxury end but not the serious end, and it is worth taking that at face value: a Cafe by Excelso, a Racketify pro shop, a free bath towel with every booking, and an air-conditioned lounge with mahjong tables. The phrase the venue uses is a chilled social atmosphere, and the mahjong is the giveaway — this is a place people spend an evening rather than an hour.
It is also open twenty-four hours a day, one of only two venues in the city that are, and its off-peak pricing is the lowest anywhere here. Ayo's cheapest listed slot is Rp45.000, which is genuinely remarkable for a covered court and is the deep small-hours rate rather than what you will pay on a Saturday evening. Bookings cannot be cancelled or refunded, and open games are listed on Reclub.
Getting there
The Golden City Mall site on Jl. KH Abdul Wahab Siamin in Dukuh Pakis, sharing the mall's parking. Being on a mall site means the venue is easy to find, easy to park at, and has somewhere to eat that is not the venue's own cafe.
Running a session here
Platinum Padel has 5 courts, and a 60-minute booking is the slot to plan around. That fixes almost everything else about the evening.
- Bring 20 to 26 players. 20 is everyone on court every round; past that you are running a sit-out queue, which is fine but somebody has to track it.
- Expect about 6 rounds once you take out warm-up and changeovers — play each to 21 points so every court finishes together and the scores stay comparable.
- At 26 players, 6 people sit out each round. 5 courts tops out at 26 players before the sit-out queue is longer than the court time.
Formats that fit
- Americano a full rotation at 20 players is 19 rounds and the booking holds 6, so you play a slice of it. Fine for an evening, but the standings are a snapshot rather than a complete table.
- Mexicano re-pairs by the standings each round, so the games stay close. 6 rounds is enough for the table to mean something.
- King of the Court needs about 10 rounds to climb 5 courts, and the booking gives 6.
| Courts | Everyone plays | Up to |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 4 | 5 |
| 2 | 8 | 10 |
| 3 | 12 | 16 |
| 4 | 16 | 21 |
| 5 | 20 | 26 |
Five courts is twenty players on court and a ceiling of twenty-six. At twenty, an Americano needs nineteen rounds and an hour gives eight at 16 points — so a group that size runs a Mexicano here.
The off-peak rate makes this the cheapest place in the city to run something long. If you can put the session in the small hours or early morning, five courts for two hours costs a fraction of the same booking anywhere else — and the venue is open, which almost nothing else is.
Quote your group the actual slot price, not the Rp45.000 headline. Ayo shows the cheapest slot on the calendar and the evening rate is several times it; a per-head number promised from the headline is a number you will have to walk back.
For a mixed group, the mahjong lounge does the job the sauna does elsewhere: the people resting a round have somewhere to be. On five courts with twenty-six players, eight of them are off court at any moment.
For eight people, two courts at 16 points gives eight rounds against the seven an Americano needs, and the rotation finishes inside the hour.
