Top Padel is the padel arm of Top Tennis in Ostfildern, and it has three indoor courts on artificial turf. That sentence carries more weight here than it would in Cologne or Hamburg: every other padel court around Stuttgart is outdoors, so from November to March this is effectively the region's only reliable option. Open until 22:30 seven days a week, booked through eBusy.
The site is a racket-sports venue rather than a padel box, with tennis courts and the Ristorante Campioni attached — Italian, a daily changing lunch menu, a quiet terrace in front of the outdoor courts and international sport on several screens. For a group that wants to eat afterwards rather than stand in a car park, it is the most comfortable of the four Stuttgart venues by some distance.
One caveat on price. The directories quote €40 an hour and the venue publishes its rates inside the booking system rather than on the website, so treat that figure as indicative and check the slot you want. At €40 this is the most expensive hour in the city, and indoors in February that is not unreasonable.
Getting there
Ostfildern, south-east of Stuttgart just beyond the city boundary and a drive for almost everybody. Note the postcode is 73760 rather than a Stuttgart one, which occasionally confuses a satnav given only the street.
Running a session here
Top Padel Stuttgart has 3 courts, and a 60-minute booking is the slot to plan around. That fixes almost everything else about the evening.
- Bring 12 to 16 players. 12 is everyone on court every round; past that you are running a sit-out queue, which is fine but somebody has to track it.
- Expect about 6 rounds once you take out warm-up and changeovers — play each to 21 points so every court finishes together and the scores stay comparable.
- At 16 players, 4 people sit out each round. 3 courts tops out at 16 players before the sit-out queue is longer than the court time.
Formats that fit
- Americano a full rotation at 12 players is 11 rounds and the booking holds 6, so you play a slice of it. Fine for an evening, but the standings are a snapshot rather than a complete table.
- Mexicano re-pairs by the standings each round, so the games stay close. 6 rounds is enough for the table to mean something.
- King of the Court winners move up a court, losers move down. Works from 6 rounds on 3 courts.
| Courts | Everyone plays | Up to |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 4 | 5 |
| 2 | 8 | 10 |
| 3 | 12 | 16 |
Three courts is twelve players on court and a ceiling of sixteen — the same size as Padel Battle in Büsnau, but under a roof, which is the difference that decides a winter session.
At twelve players an hour is not enough for a full Americano: eleven rounds needed against the eight an hour gives at 16 points. Ninety minutes completes it; an hour is a Mexicano.
Three courts at €40 is €120 an hour, or €10 a head at twelve players. Compared with €72 outdoors in Büsnau that is a real difference, so it is worth being deliberate: outdoors in July, here in January.
The restaurant is the thing to use on purpose. A session of twelve produces a standings table and nowhere to read it — book a table for after, and the last round stops being the end of the evening.
