HTC Stuttgarter Kickers: one court, and guests are genuinely welcome
A single outdoor court at the hockey and tennis venue on the Hohe Eiche — bookable by non-members all year round, which at a German venue is worth saying out loud.

One outdoor court on the grounds of the Hockey und Tennisclub Stuttgarter Kickers in Degerloch, and the reason it matters more than a single court usually would is the access: the venue states plainly that the padel court is bookable year-round by members and non-members alike, while its tennis courts are not. Most tennis venues that add a padel court quietly keep it for members — the neighbours down the street do exactly that.
Prices are honest about the two tiers. Members pay €24.50 an hour before 16:00 and €27.50 after and at weekends; guests pay €27.50 and €30.50. A ten-session card is €250 for members and €275 for guests, redeemable at weekends too. The venue has no padel coach of its own and says so, recommending a Portuguese specialist who plays at the other Stuttgart venue instead — a small piece of candour that tells you how young padel still is here.
There is one logistical quirk to plan for: the venue rents no rackets. They come from Sport Katzmaier, a sports shop in Degerloch, at €5 per racket per day, with balls at €7 for a tube of three. Turning up empty-handed means a detour rather than a counter.
Getting there
Bopseräcker 1 on the Hohe Eiche in Degerloch, surrounded by green space and other sports grounds. TC Degerloch is at the far end of the same street, so the two single courts in this district are a two-minute walk apart.
Running a session here
HTC Stuttgarter Kickers has one court, and a 60-minute booking is the slot to plan around. That fixes almost everything else about the evening.
- Bring 4 to 5 players. 4 is everyone on court every round; past that you are running a sit-out queue, which is fine but somebody has to track it.
- Expect about 6 rounds once you take out warm-up and changeovers — play each to 21 points so every court finishes together and the scores stay comparable.
- At 5 players, 1 person sits out each round. One court tops out at 5 players before the sit-out queue is longer than the court time.
Formats that fit
- Americano every pair partners every other pair inside the booking — 3 rounds, and you have 6.
- Mexicano re-pairs by the standings each round, so the games stay close. 6 rounds is enough for the table to mean something.
- King of the Court winners move up a court, losers move down. Works from 2 rounds on one court.
One court is four players, and four is a size that actually finishes: a full Americano rotation is three rounds and an hour gives six at 21 points, so the whole table completes twice over.
Do not invite eight people here. The court ladder below has one row, and the only three-court site in the city is Padel Battle over in Büsnau — about fifteen minutes away and the right answer for a group.
Two things to settle before you send the invitation. Cancellation closes 48 hours ahead, which is much earlier than the day-before most people assume, and the price depends on whether the booker is a member — so agree the split on €30.50 rather than €24.50 unless someone in the group has a card.
Rackets are the other pre-booking job: they come from a shop in Degerloch, not from the venue, so a beginner in the group needs someone to collect one during shop hours.
