Three outdoor courts on artificial turf at the TSV Jahn Büsnau sports venue in the south-west, in place since the end of 2022 and open to anybody: no membership, online booking, and a door code sent by email once you have paid. The floodlights come on by themselves when they are needed. That is the whole operation, and for an organiser it is close to ideal — nothing between the booking and the game, and nobody to be let in by.

It is also the only three-court site in the city, which changes what you can do here rather than just how much of it. Prices are €24 an hour on weekday mornings up to 16:00 and €30 in the evenings and at weekends, and the sports venue around the courts brings four tennis courts, two football pitches, a restaurant, changing rooms, lockers, showers and vending machines.

One thing to sort out in advance: racket rental and ball sales run through the LOVA app, which the venue warns works only with a credit card stored in it. It is a small hurdle and it catches people at the gate rather than at home.

Getting there

Büsnau in the south-west, near the university's Vaihingen campus. Because entry is by code rather than by clubhouse, arriving outside staffed hours is normal here — the 07:00 start is real.

Running a session here

Padel Battle Stuttgart has 3 courts, and a 60-minute booking is the slot to plan around. That fixes almost everything else about the evening.

  • Bring 12 to 16 players. 12 is everyone on court every round; past that you are running a sit-out queue, which is fine but somebody has to track it.
  • Expect about 6 rounds once you take out warm-up and changeovers — play each to 21 points so every court finishes together and the scores stay comparable.
  • At 16 players, 4 people sit out each round. 3 courts tops out at 16 players before the sit-out queue is longer than the court time.

Formats that fit

  • Americano a full rotation at 12 players is 11 rounds and the booking holds 6, so you play a slice of it. Fine for an evening, but the standings are a snapshot rather than a complete table.
  • Mexicano re-pairs by the standings each round, so the games stay close. 6 rounds is enough for the table to mean something.
  • King of the Court winners move up a court, losers move down. Works from 6 rounds on 3 courts.

If you book fewer courts

Three courts is twelve players on court and a ceiling of sixteen — nothing else in Stuttgart is this size, and a group of eight or twelve has exactly one address in this city.

At twelve players a full Americano wants eleven rounds and an hour gives eight at 16 points, so it does not finish. Book ninety minutes and it completes with room to spare; keep the hour and run a Mexicano instead.

Twelve on three courts is also the right shape for King of the Court: two rounds per court, six in total, which an hour covers at 21 points.

Three courts before 16:00 cost €72 against €90 after — €18 on the session, or €1.50 a head at twelve players. The bigger saving is the app: sort LOVA and the credit card out the night before, or the first fifteen minutes of your slot go on somebody's phone.
