Smash Padel opened on Simatupang in May 2025 and became the biggest padel centre in Jakarta on the day it did: 4,600 square metres, seven professional courts, four green and three blue. It was started by two players, Zenon Winters and Jules Brookfield, who wanted a better version of the experience they were buying elsewhere — and the thing they clearly cared about is the centre court, which carries more than three metres of run-off behind the baseline.
That number is worth explaining, because it is the one specification most venues quietly skip. Run-off is the space between the glass and whatever is behind it; three metres means a player can actually chase a ball out of the back of the court, which is how the professional game is played and how a final should be played. On most Jakarta courts you cannot.
The rest of the building is built for staying rather than leaving: an air-conditioned café, a mezzanine viewing deck over the courts, foosball and billiards, warm-up bikes, locker rooms with cold plunge tubs, a pro shop, live streaming, and certified Spanish and Indonesian coaches. Courts run six in the morning to midnight, booked through Playtomic or Courtside, at around Rp400.000 an hour.
One Jakarta-wide caveat belongs on every price here. Since Perda DKI No. 1/2024, padel courts carry a 10 per cent entertainment tax paid by the player, and venues have handled it differently — some folded it into the rate, others added it. Ask which before you promise your group a per-head number.
Getting there
Jl. TB Simatupang No.34 in Pasar Minggu, on the southern ring road. Large car park, which on TB Simatupang is not a given — and the location is one of the few in South Jakarta that is genuinely easy to reach from both the east and the west of the city.
Running a session here
Smash Padel Simatupang has 7 courts, and a 60-minute booking is the slot to plan around. That fixes almost everything else about the evening.
- Bring 28 to 37 players. 28 is everyone on court every round; past that you are running a sit-out queue, which is fine but somebody has to track it.
- Expect about 6 rounds once you take out warm-up and changeovers — play each to 21 points so every court finishes together and the scores stay comparable.
- At 37 players, 9 people sit out each round. 7 courts tops out at 37 players before the sit-out queue is longer than the court time.
Formats that fit
- Americano a full rotation at 28 players is 27 rounds and the booking holds 6, so you play a slice of it. Fine for an evening, but the standings are a snapshot rather than a complete table.
- Mexicano re-pairs by the standings each round, so the games stay close. 6 rounds is enough for the table to mean something.
- King of the Court needs about 14 rounds to climb 7 courts, and the booking gives 6.
| Courts | Everyone plays | Up to |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 4 | 5 |
| 2 | 8 | 10 |
| 3 | 12 | 16 |
| 4 | 16 | 21 |
| 5 | 20 | 26 |
| 6 | 24 | 32 |
| 7 | 28 | 37 |
Seven courts is twenty-eight players on court and a ceiling of thirty-seven, with nine resting each round at the top. This is the largest single-venue session available in Jakarta.
At twenty-eight an Americano needs twenty-seven rounds and an hour gives eight at 16 points. There is no configuration in which that rotation finishes, so run a Mexicano and set one target — the leaderboard is the format that scales.
Book the centre court for the last round, not the first. Three metres of run-off and a mezzanine full of people watching is what a final is for, and it is wasted on a warm-up.
For sixteen people, four courts and a two-hour booking gives eighteen rounds at 16 points against the fifteen an Americano needs — the largest group here that finishes a full rotation with a real winner.
Occupancy across Jakarta runs between 87 and 99 per cent and some players book three months out. At the city's biggest venue on a weekend evening, book the courts before you invite anyone.
