Orange Garden Padel sits in the Intercon area of Taman Kebon Jeruk in West Jakarta, with four indoor courts, a prayer room, changing facilities, food and drink outlets and parking. It is a straightforward venue with no rooftop and no cold plunge, and its argument is the price: the daytime window from six in the morning to five in the afternoon starts at Rp88.000, which is a fraction of what South Jakarta charges for an indoor court.

Its booking policy is the other reason to know about it. Almost every Jakarta venue states flatly that a confirmed booking cannot be moved. Orange Garden allows a reschedule up to three days before the date — H-3 in the local shorthand — and refunds or reschedules outright if a court has a technical problem. For an organiser trying to gather twelve people around one slot, that window is worth more than the facilities list.

The court rules are specific and posted: no food or drink inside the court, no smoking or spitting in the padel area, no leaning on the net or the glass (damage is charged to the player), and sports clothing and clean shoes are required. There is a first aid kit at reception. Read as a set, they describe a venue that has had to write down what went wrong before.

Getting there

Intercon, Taman Kebon Jeruk Blok M1 in Srengseng, Kembangan — West Jakarta, inside the Taman Kebon Jeruk estate rather than on a through road. For anyone living west of Slipi this is far closer than the Kemang and Cilandak venues, which is most of the point.

Running a session here

Orange Garden Padel has 4 courts, and a 60-minute booking is the slot to plan around. That fixes almost everything else about the evening.

  • Bring 16 to 21 players. 16 is everyone on court every round; past that you are running a sit-out queue, which is fine but somebody has to track it.
  • Expect about 6 rounds once you take out warm-up and changeovers — play each to 21 points so every court finishes together and the scores stay comparable.
  • At 21 players, 5 people sit out each round. 4 courts tops out at 21 players before the sit-out queue is longer than the court time.

Formats that fit

  • Americano a full rotation at 16 players is 15 rounds and the booking holds 6, so you play a slice of it. Fine for an evening, but the standings are a snapshot rather than a complete table.
  • Mexicano re-pairs by the standings each round, so the games stay close. 6 rounds is enough for the table to mean something.
  • King of the Court needs about 8 rounds to climb 4 courts, and the booking gives 6.

If you book fewer courts

Four courts is sixteen players on court and a ceiling of twenty-one, with five resting each round at the top. Sixteen means nobody sits out.

At sixteen players an Americano needs fifteen rounds and an hour gives eight at 16 points. Two hours gives eighteen and finishes it — and two hours here costs less than one hour in Kemang, which is the reason to run the long session at this venue rather than somewhere else.

The H-3 reschedule is the feature. Book the slot early to secure it, then move it if the group falls apart, which at this price and this notice is an option almost nowhere else in Jakarta gives you.

Tell the group about the glass rule before you go. Leaning on the net or the glass is charged to the player who did it, and a Mexicano with twenty-one people and a lot of standing around is exactly the session where somebody leans.

Twelve people on three courts for ninety minutes gives thirteen rounds at 16 points against the eleven an Americano needs, which is a complete rotation with a winner for well under Rp500.000 all in.
