P3 opened in autumn 2024 and made a decision most new venues don't: it committed to a look. Black turf, black surround, gold accents, and a three-storey lounge built so that people not playing can watch the ones who are. The center court has twelve metres of clearance, which is three more than the average German hall and exactly the difference between a lob that plays and a lob that hits a beam.
Seven courts — five doubles and two singles — on adidas AFP surfaces, with a venue that runs leagues, workshops, group and private coaching, and official tournaments rather than only selling court hours. The entrance is the one practical thing to know: you come in at Monkey Island and follow the signs to the rear hall, which is not obvious at 19:55.
Getting there
The Havighorster Weg is in the east, near Lohbrügge and the Bergedorf side of the city — the same half of Hamburg as Hanse Padel, so if you are choosing between the two it is size against design rather than a different journey.
Running a session here
P3 Padel Club Hamburg has 5 courts, and a 90-minute booking is the slot to plan around. That fixes almost everything else about the evening.
- Bring 20 to 26 players. 20 is everyone on court every round; past that you are running a sit-out queue, which is fine but somebody has to track it.
- Expect about 6 rounds once you take out warm-up and changeovers — play each to 32 points so every court finishes together and the scores stay comparable.
- At 26 players, 6 people sit out each round. 5 courts tops out at 26 players before the sit-out queue is longer than the court time.
- The 2 singles courts are left out of those numbers — they seat two, so they take no round of a four-player rotation. Useful for a warm-up, or for whoever is sitting one out.
Formats that fit
- Americano a full rotation at 20 players is 19 rounds and the booking holds 6, so you play a slice of it. Fine for an evening, but the standings are a snapshot rather than a complete table.
- Mexicano re-pairs by the standings each round, so the games stay close. 6 rounds is enough for the table to mean something.
- King of the Court needs about 10 rounds to climb 5 courts, and the booking gives 6.
| Courts | Everyone plays | Up to |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 4 | 5 |
| 2 | 8 | 10 |
| 3 | 12 | 16 |
| 4 | 16 | 21 |
| 5 | 20 | 26 |
Five doubles courts is twenty players on court, with a ceiling around twenty-six. In 90 minutes that is six rounds at 32 points or thirteen at 16, and twenty players would need nineteen rounds for a full Americano — so it is a Mexicano evening, with the target fixed before the first round.
The center court and the lounge above it are what this venue is for. Put the last round there and the other four courts become the audience; that is a finish an ordinary hall cannot stage, and it costs nothing to arrange.
The two singles courts are the sit-out answer, and the venue sells memberships as well as hours — worth a look if the same four or eight of you are here weekly.
