Aspria is a members' sports and wellness venue rather than a padel venue, and the padel is priced and placed accordingly: three indoor doubles courts and one singles court, next to pools, a spa, a gym, tennis courts and a restaurant. Nobody comes here only to play padel for ninety minutes, and the venue is not pretending otherwise.
For an organiser that is a specific kind of useful. A group of twelve where four people have never held a racket has somewhere for those four to be afterwards, and the 06:30 weekday opening makes a genuine before-work session possible — one of only a handful of Hamburg venues where that is true. Directory listings disagree about whether this is three courts or four; the booking grid shows three doubles and one singles, which is four.
Getting there
The Alstertal in the north of the city, and the same corner as Padelon Hummelsbüttel — the two are under a kilometre apart, which makes this the densest padel patch in Hamburg. If your group is spread across the city, that proximity is the fallback when one of them is full.
Running a session here
Aspria Hamburg Alstertal has 3 courts, and a 90-minute booking is the slot to plan around. That fixes almost everything else about the evening.
- Bring 12 to 16 players. 12 is everyone on court every round; past that you are running a sit-out queue, which is fine but somebody has to track it.
- Expect about 6 rounds once you take out warm-up and changeovers — play each to 32 points so every court finishes together and the scores stay comparable.
- At 16 players, 4 people sit out each round. 3 courts tops out at 16 players before the sit-out queue is longer than the court time.
- The singles court is left out of those numbers — it seats two, so it takes no round of a four-player rotation. Useful for a warm-up, or for whoever is sitting one out.
Formats that fit
- Americano a full rotation at 12 players is 11 rounds and the booking holds 6, so you play a slice of it. Fine for an evening, but the standings are a snapshot rather than a complete table.
- Mexicano re-pairs by the standings each round, so the games stay close. 6 rounds is enough for the table to mean something.
- King of the Court winners move up a court, losers move down. Works from 6 rounds on 3 courts.
| Courts | Everyone plays | Up to |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 4 | 5 |
| 2 | 8 | 10 |
| 3 | 12 | 16 |
Three doubles courts is twelve players on court, and twelve is where a full Americano rotation is eleven rounds. A 90-minute booking gives six at 32 points and thirteen at 16, so the rotation finishes if you set the target low and stick to it — a genuinely complete table, on three courts, indoors.
The singles court is worth booking alongside for whoever is resting, and the spa is the other answer to the same problem: at sixteen players, four sit out each round, and this is the one Hamburg venue where sitting out can be a sauna instead of a bench.
