Cielo opened in August 2026 as the venue that wanted the sentence 'Hamburg's first padel venue above the roofs', and the Playtomic grid now shows five named courts to back it up. They sit on Modering 5a in Schnelsen, 22457 — industrial northwest, not a harbour view — and the official site lists five rooftop panorama courts, a sun terrace with a bar, a shop with rental kit, and changing rooms with showers. Padelcompass files them as outdoor, which a roof deck is.

Hours are 07:00 to 22:00 every day on Playtomic. That is a long day for five courts and a reason to book an early slot if the evening grid is gone. There is no published court-price floor; the app prices the hour. Rain on an unroofed deck is the same problem as Treudelberg, with Hanse Padel as the indoor fallback on the other side of the city.

Getting there

Modering 5a, 22457 Hamburg — Schnelsen, near the A7. Free parking is listed on Playtomic. This is a drive for anyone coming from Altona or Bergedorf; mitte dolce vita is the west-side alternative that is not a roof.

Running a session here

Cielo Sports Club has 5 courts, and a 60-minute booking is the slot to plan around. That fixes almost everything else about the evening.

  • Bring 20 to 26 players. 20 is everyone on court every round; past that you are running a sit-out queue, which is fine but somebody has to track it.
  • Expect about 6 rounds once you take out warm-up and changeovers — play each to 21 points so every court finishes together and the scores stay comparable.
  • At 26 players, 6 people sit out each round. 5 courts tops out at 26 players before the sit-out queue is longer than the court time.

Formats that fit

  • Americano a full rotation at 20 players is 19 rounds and the booking holds 6, so you play a slice of it. Fine for an evening, but the standings are a snapshot rather than a complete table.
  • Mexicano re-pairs by the standings each round, so the games stay close. 6 rounds is enough for the table to mean something.
  • King of the Court needs about 10 rounds to climb 5 courts, and the booking gives 6.

If you book fewer courts

Five courts is twenty players on court and a ceiling around twenty-six. A sixty-minute booking at twenty is six rounds to 21 — Mexicano, not a finished Americano. The terrace is where the four extras sit, which is the point of a rooftop with a bar.

August 2026 is a new venue. Pioneer packages on the shop were already sold out when this page was written; book the court on Playtomic rather than assuming a membership is required.

Common questions

How many courts does Cielo have?
Five rooftop panorama courts. The venue's own site and the Playtomic grid (Padel 1–5) agree.
Is it indoors?
No. Five courts on a roof deck. Showers and changing rooms are downstairs; rain still ends the session.
When did it open?
August 2026. The site still carried an opening line when the courts were already on Playtomic — book the grid, not the hero copy.
