mitte builds boutique padel venues — designed interiors, automated booking and check-in, community leaders instead of a reception desk — and dolce vita is the Altona one. Six indoor courts: one laid out as a center court, three further doubles, and two singles courts. The operator's other Hamburg site, The Cabrio in Wandsbek, is twice the size, so these two are a genuine pair rather than a chain repeating itself.

Four doubles courts is the size most social groups actually are, and Bahrenfeld is the reason to choose this one over Wandsbek: this is western Hamburg, walking distance from Ottensen, in a part of town where nothing else offers indoor padel. For anyone living between Altona and Eimsbüttel, the alternative is a trip across the city.

Getting there

Bahrenfeld, off the Beerenweg, close to Altona station and the S-Bahn — the westernmost padel in Hamburg and the only indoor option on that side of the Alster.

Running a session here

mitte dolce vita Altona has 4 courts, and a 90-minute booking is the slot to plan around. That fixes almost everything else about the evening.

  • Bring 16 to 21 players. 16 is everyone on court every round; past that you are running a sit-out queue, which is fine but somebody has to track it.
  • Expect about 6 rounds once you take out warm-up and changeovers — play each to 32 points so every court finishes together and the scores stay comparable.
  • At 21 players, 5 people sit out each round. 4 courts tops out at 21 players before the sit-out queue is longer than the court time.
  • The 2 singles courts are left out of those numbers — they seat two, so they take no round of a four-player rotation. Useful for a warm-up, or for whoever is sitting one out.

Formats that fit

  • Americano a full rotation at 16 players is 15 rounds and the booking holds 6, so you play a slice of it. Fine for an evening, but the standings are a snapshot rather than a complete table.
  • Mexicano re-pairs by the standings each round, so the games stay close. 6 rounds is enough for the table to mean something.
  • King of the Court needs about 8 rounds to climb 4 courts, and the booking gives 6.

If you book fewer courts

Four doubles courts is sixteen players on court, and sixteen is the awkward number for an Americano: a full rotation is fifteen rounds and a 90-minute booking gives thirteen at 16 points. Two hours gives eighteen and finishes it; keep the 90 and run a Mexicano instead. Either is a good evening — deciding at round eleven is not.

The two singles courts absorb the overflow. At twenty-one players, five sit out every round on the doubles courts alone, and a singles court turns two of those five back into players.
