Six thousand eight hundred square metres of undeveloped land in the banking district, turned into a beach venue for the summer, with two REAL Padel courts on it. The office building planned for the plot has been delayed, which is why this exists at all — and the operators' claim that these are the only padel courts in Frankfurt's inner city holds up: everything else in this city is out by the Nidda, in Frankfurt-Süd or over the line in Dreieich.

The courts are run separately from the beach venue, and that is the useful part. You can book them outside the venue's own opening hours through Playtomic, and when the bar is closed you get in through the blue door at Weserstraße 55. An hour is €44 and ninety minutes €66, rackets come out of a Gear Padel vending machine at €5, balls are €8, and the showers are free. Weather cancellations are only free 24 hours ahead — on an outdoor court in a German summer, that is worth reading twice.

Getting there

Mainzer Landstraße 23, five minutes from the Hauptbahnhof and inside the banking district, so almost nobody drives here. If you do, the Holiday Inn car park at number 27 is what the venue points at, at €2.50 an hour.

Running a session here

Gibson Beach Club has 2 courts, and a 60-minute booking is the slot to plan around. That fixes almost everything else about the evening.

  • Bring 8 to 10 players. 8 is everyone on court every round; past that you are running a sit-out queue, which is fine but somebody has to track it.
  • Expect about 6 rounds once you take out warm-up and changeovers — play each to 21 points so every court finishes together and the scores stay comparable.
  • At 10 players, 2 people sit out each round. 2 courts tops out at 10 players before the sit-out queue is longer than the court time.

Formats that fit

  • Americano a full rotation at 8 players is 7 rounds and the booking holds 6, so you play a slice of it. Fine for an evening, but the standings are a snapshot rather than a complete table.
  • Mexicano re-pairs by the standings each round, so the games stay close. 6 rounds is enough for the table to mean something.
  • King of the Court winners move up a court, losers move down. Works from 4 rounds on 2 courts.

If you book fewer courts

Two courts is eight players, and eight is the size where a full Americano actually completes: seven rounds, which an hour covers at 16 points a round. Agree the target before you start and everybody leaves with a finished table.

The season is the constraint nobody plans for. This is a summer pop-up on a plot with a building permit — it runs roughly May to September, so a recurring Tuesday group needs somewhere else from October, and next year is not guaranteed at all.

It is the one Frankfurt venue where the after-match is already on site and already the point. Eight players, four on court, the rest on the sand with a drink — for a mixed group where half don't play, this beats a hall by a distance.
