Thirteen courts in the Carlswerk quarter in Köln-Mülheim: eleven indoors across two halls the venue calls the Aluhalle and the Kupferzug, and two outdoors with a sun terrace beside them. Nine of the indoor courts are doubles and two are singles; outdoors both are doubles. That makes eleven doubles courts, which is more than any other venue in this city and enough to put forty-four people on court in one round.
The courts are adidas-built on joint-friendly floors to international tournament standard, in halls that were an industrial site before they were a padel venue and still look it. Court 6 is pink, which the venue is right to point out is the only one in Cologne. There is a bar with proper espresso as well as cold drinks, several lounge areas, and racket rental and sales on site.
Season subscriptions are the venue's own structure and worth reading if you play weekly: twenty-six sessions at €34 each on weekday mornings comes to €884, or €44 each on Monday-to-Thursday evenings for €1,144, and no subscriptions are sold from Friday afternoon through Sunday night. The wallet pays €100 for €110 of credit.
Getting there
The Schanzenstraße in Mülheim, on the right bank — the Carlswerk site is a well-known cultural and office quarter, so the transport and the parking are already solved by the neighbourhood rather than by the venue.
Running a session here
The Cube Padel Carlswerk has 11 courts, and a 60-minute booking is the slot to plan around. That fixes almost everything else about the evening.
- Bring 44 to 58 players. 44 is everyone on court every round; past that you are running a sit-out queue, which is fine but somebody has to track it.
- Expect about 6 rounds once you take out warm-up and changeovers — play each to 21 points so every court finishes together and the scores stay comparable.
- At 58 players, 14 people sit out each round. 11 courts tops out at 58 players before the sit-out queue is longer than the court time.
- The 2 singles courts are left out of those numbers — they seat two, so they take no round of a four-player rotation. Useful for a warm-up, or for whoever is sitting one out.
Formats that fit
- Americano a full rotation at 44 players is 43 rounds and the booking holds 6, so you play a slice of it. Fine for an evening, but the standings are a snapshot rather than a complete table.
- Mexicano re-pairs by the standings each round, so the games stay close. 6 rounds is enough for the table to mean something.
- King of the Court needs about 22 rounds to climb 11 courts, and the booking gives 6.

Eleven doubles courts is forty-four players on court and a ceiling near fifty-eight. Nothing else in Cologne is this size. At forty-four the Americano is impossible — forty-three rounds against the six an hour gives at 21 points — so this is Mexicano, one target, fixed once and identical on all eleven courts.
Split the courts deliberately rather than spreading one rotation across all of them. Eleven courts in two halls plus two outdoors means players walking between buildings every round, which costs more than the round; keep a rotation inside one hall and use the other for a second group.
The pink court and the two outdoor courts are the two things to spend on purpose. Put the final on Court 6 and the rest of the hall becomes the audience; put a beginners' group outdoors by the terrace where the people with them can sit.
If the same four of you play weekly, price the subscription against pay-as-you-go before booking twenty-six separate hours — and note that no subscription covers Friday evening to Sunday, which is when most social groups actually want to play.
