The western padelBOX: three indoor doubles courts, one singles court, and — unusually — four badminton courts in the same building. Padel halls almost never share with badminton, because the two sports want different ceiling heights and different floors, so a site that does both is doing something deliberate. For a group where two people don't fancy padel, it is also the only answer of its kind in Cologne.
Weekdays run 08:00 to 23:00 and weekends a much shorter 10:00 to 20:00, which is the detail to plan around: this is a weekday venue with a short Saturday. Doubles are €24 until 16:00 and €34 after, singles €24 throughout, and the site carries the full padelBOX kit — lounge, bar, sport on the screens, changing rooms, lockers, showers, free parking and WiFi.
Getting there
Lövenich, out on the western edge towards Frechen, with free parking. The operator's larger site in Weiden is a few minutes further along the same side of the city, which makes the pair a genuine fallback for each other.
Running a session here
padelBOX Köln-Lövenich has 3 courts, and a 60-minute booking is the slot to plan around. That fixes almost everything else about the evening.
- Bring 12 to 16 players. 12 is everyone on court every round; past that you are running a sit-out queue, which is fine but somebody has to track it.
- Expect about 6 rounds once you take out warm-up and changeovers — play each to 21 points so every court finishes together and the scores stay comparable.
- At 16 players, 4 people sit out each round. 3 courts tops out at 16 players before the sit-out queue is longer than the court time.
- The singles court is left out of those numbers — it seats two, so it takes no round of a four-player rotation. Useful for a warm-up, or for whoever is sitting one out.
Formats that fit
- Americano a full rotation at 12 players is 11 rounds and the booking holds 6, so you play a slice of it. Fine for an evening, but the standings are a snapshot rather than a complete table.
- Mexicano re-pairs by the standings each round, so the games stay close. 6 rounds is enough for the table to mean something.
- King of the Court winners move up a court, losers move down. Works from 6 rounds on 3 courts.
| Courts | Everyone plays | Up to |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 4 | 5 |
| 2 | 8 | 10 |
| 3 | 12 | 16 |
Three doubles courts is twelve players on court and a ceiling of sixteen. Twelve players need eleven rounds for a full Americano and an hour gives eight at 16 points, so it comes up three short: take ninety minutes and it completes with room, or run a Mexicano inside the hour.
Twelve players on three courts is also the right size for King of the Court — it wants two rounds per court, six on three courts, which an hour covers at 21 points. Cologne's big halls cannot fit that format into a single booking.
The weekend hours are the trap. A Sunday evening session does not exist here: the doors shut at 20:00 on both weekend days while the weekday hall runs to 23:00.
