The SportsFactory is a big multi-sport indoor centre in Köln-Neubrück that added padel: one tournament-grade doubles panorama court and one singles panorama court, both with dedicated floodlighting, both indoors and therefore both playable in any weather. Two courts is small, and the centre around them is not — which is the whole proposition here.

What you get that no other Cologne venue offers is the recovery end of the evening: a sauna, plus a restaurant and bar for afterwards. The pricing has two levers worth knowing. Weekday slots between 08:00 and 14:00 are €5 an hour cheaper, and the prepaid Factory-Card — loadable from €100 — takes €3 an hour off almost every racket sport in the building.

Neubrücker Ring 48 in Neubrück, on the eastern edge of the city. Note the address if you have looked this venue up elsewhere: several listings put it in Hürth, which is a different town on the opposite side of Cologne.

Running a session here

SportsFactory by ACR Padel Köln has one court, and a 60-minute booking is the slot to plan around. That fixes almost everything else about the evening.

  • Bring 4 to 5 players. 4 is everyone on court every round; past that you are running a sit-out queue, which is fine but somebody has to track it.
  • Expect about 6 rounds once you take out warm-up and changeovers — play each to 21 points so every court finishes together and the scores stay comparable.
  • At 5 players, 1 person sits out each round. One court tops out at 5 players before the sit-out queue is longer than the court time.
  • The singles court is left out of those numbers — it seats two, so it takes no round of a four-player rotation. Useful for a warm-up, or for whoever is sitting one out.

Formats that fit

  • Americano every pair partners every other pair inside the booking — 3 rounds, and you have 6.
  • Mexicano re-pairs by the standings each round, so the games stay close. 6 rounds is enough for the table to mean something.
  • King of the Court winners move up a court, losers move down. Works from 2 rounds on one court.

One doubles court is four players, and four finishes cleanly: a full Americano at four players is three rounds, and an hour gives six at 21 points. Add the singles court and the two people waiting have a game instead of a bench.

For a group of eight this is a two-hour booking on one court, not one booking for everybody. If your regular group is bigger than four, the padelBOX sites in the west or The Cube in Mülheim are the ones built for it.

The two discounts stack in the same direction: a weekday lunchtime slot on the Factory-Card is €8 an hour below an evening walk-up. For a group that plays weekly and can move its slot, that is most of a court over a season.
