PadelCity runs venues in Munich, Cologne, Frankfurt and Dortmund, and its Berlin site is seven outdoor courts on Emma-Herwegh-Straße, wedged between Hauptbahnhof, Moabit and the government quarter. For a group whose members arrive from four different districts, that location does more work than any facility on the site.
One thing to know before you invite anyone: booking is only through the PadelCity app, paid by PayPal, card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. There is no Playtomic listing to fall back on, and the app is where the prices, the free slots and the venue's WhatsApp community all live. Everything is outdoors, and a €40 evening court is at the top of the Berlin range — the €32 daytime rate is the one to aim for.
Getting there
Ten to fifteen minutes on foot from Hauptbahnhof, or the U9 and the S-Bahn ring at Westhafen. This is the most transit-convenient padel in the city after BeachMitte, and there is no reason to drive to it.
Running a session here
PadelCity Berlin has 5 courts, and a 60-minute booking is the slot to plan around. That fixes almost everything else about the evening.
- Bring 20 to 26 players. 20 is everyone on court every round; past that you are running a sit-out queue, which is fine but somebody has to track it.
- Expect about 6 rounds once you take out warm-up and changeovers — play each to 21 points so every court finishes together and the scores stay comparable.
- At 26 players, 6 people sit out each round. 5 courts tops out at 26 players before the sit-out queue is longer than the court time.
- The 2 singles courts are left out of those numbers — they seat two, so they take no round of a four-player rotation. Useful for a warm-up, or for whoever is sitting one out.
Formats that fit
- Americano a full rotation at 20 players is 19 rounds and the booking holds 6, so you play a slice of it. Fine for an evening, but the standings are a snapshot rather than a complete table.
- Mexicano re-pairs by the standings each round, so the games stay close. 6 rounds is enough for the table to mean something.
- King of the Court needs about 10 rounds to climb 5 courts, and the booking gives 6.
| Courts | Everyone plays | Up to |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 4 | 5 |
| 2 | 8 | 10 |
| 3 | 12 | 16 |
| 4 | 16 | 21 |
| 5 | 20 | 26 |
Five doubles courts is twenty players on court, with the two singles courts as overflow at €20 to €26. Prices are quoted per 60 minutes here rather than per 90, so an hour is what to plan around: five rounds to 24 points, or six to 21. That is a short session for twenty people — book two hours if you want the standings to mean anything.
