Bay Padel Dogpatch

Two indoor courts in Pier 70's Building 12, which makes this the one club in the metro small enough for an eight-player group to have entirely to itself.

This is a two-court club and everything useful about it follows from that. The club's own words, twice: the location page lists two indoor padel courts and the FAQ says at Dogpatch we have two indoor padel courts. It is the smallest padel venue in this metro by a factor of three, and for a group of eight that is a feature rather than a shortfall — two courts is exactly eight players with nobody sitting out, and it is the only club here that a single group can fill without recruiting.

It has also been promising eleven more for a long time. The location page advertises eleven new outdoor courts coming soon, four padel and seven pickleball, and its own booking system carried a note saying they would be ready by the end of Spring 2026 and that pickleball had been unavailable since 3 April 2026. Spring 2026 has passed, the marketing still says coming soon, and the same expansion was reported in mid-2025 as targeting that October. So it has slipped twice, there is currently no pickleball here at all, and this page is written on the two courts that exist. A listing offering you thirteen is reading an announcement.

The amenity that genuinely separates this club from its three siblings is the gym. Bay Fitness at Dogpatch is a full-size gym with open gym access and coach-led classes, sold as its own product alongside the courts, and none of the other Bay Padel sites has anything comparable — Sunnyvale has a "fitness zone", San Jose's recovery suite is still coming soon. If a group's evening involves anything other than padel, this is the site that supports it.

The building is Pier 70's Building 12, part of a historic shipyard complex on the central waterfront, and the club is honest about which of the neighbouring attractions are actually its own. Its FAQ points out that Breadbelly is in the same building for coffee and pastries and Standard Deviant is there for food and a beer afterwards — both separate businesses, both a genuine reason to pick this club for a social, neither of them an amenity of the venue. Street parking is available and paid between 8am and 10pm on weekdays.

Hours are the chain's earliest, 7am to 11pm on weekdays and 8am to 8pm at weekends, which with two courts and a gym makes this the plausible before-work option in the city. One address caveat: the club's own site gives ZIP 94107 and its own booking tenant says 94124. The Pier 70 address is 94107.

One directory error is worth knowing about because it is a clean example of how these listings go wrong: CourtSource credits this club with three indoor courts and names a CEO who has nothing to do with it. The club says two, and Bay Padel was founded by Lucas Tepman and Matías Gandulfo.

Getting there

Maryland Street runs into the Pier 70 site on the central waterfront, a short walk from the Third Street corridor and the T Third Muni line, with 22nd Street Caltrain about fifteen minutes on foot.

Street parking is available and is paid from 8am to 10pm on weekdays, which is the club's own note rather than a general warning. Of the four Bay Padel clubs this is the only one where parking costs anything in the city itself.

Running a session here

Bay Padel Dogpatch has 2 courts, and a 60-minute booking is the slot to plan around. That fixes almost everything else about the evening.

  • Bring 8 to 10 players. 8 is everyone on court every round; past that you are running a sit-out queue, which is fine but somebody has to track it.
  • Expect about 6 rounds once you take out warm-up and changeovers — play each to 21 points so every court finishes together and the scores stay comparable.
  • At 10 players, 2 people sit out each round. 2 courts tops out at 10 players before the sit-out queue is longer than the court time.

Formats that fit

  • Americano a full rotation at 8 players is 7 rounds and the booking holds 6, so you play a slice of it. Fine for an evening, but the standings are a snapshot rather than a complete table.
  • Mexicano re-pairs by the standings each round, so the games stay close. 6 rounds is enough for the table to mean something.
  • King of the Court winners move up a court, losers move down. Works from 4 rounds on 2 courts.

If you book fewer courts

Two courts is eight players with everyone on court every round, and ten before the queue starts to matter — at ten, two people rest each round. That is the smallest and most manageable session in this metro and it is the natural size for a regular weekly group.

Eight players is also the size where a full Americano is nearly in reach, which is rare. A complete rotation at eight is seven rounds; an hour gives you about six at 21 points, so you finish one round short. Ninety minutes at the same target gives ten and the whole rotation fits with room over. That extra half hour is the single best-value decision available at this club.

King of the Court is the format that actually fits an hour here: it wants two rounds per court, so four in total, and you have six. Everywhere else in this metro KOTC runs out of time.

The per-person billing is at its least painful here. Peak hours require four players named at the time of booking and off-peak two, and with two courts a full session is eight charges rather than twenty-four — so between $200 and $320 for the group at peak depending on which of the club's two rate cards applies, and $200 to $224 off-peak. Placeholders count as guests if you do not yet know who is coming.

Common questions

How many courts does Bay Padel Dogpatch have?
Two indoor padel courts, stated twice by the club — on its location page and in its FAQ. Eleven further outdoor courts, four padel and seven pickleball, have been advertised as coming soon since 2025 and are not built.
Can I play pickleball here?
Not currently. The club's own booking system noted that pickleball has been unavailable since 3 April 2026, pending the outdoor expansion. Treasure Island has seven indoor pickleball courts.
Is there a gym?
Yes, and it is the reason to choose this club over its siblings. Bay Fitness at Dogpatch is a full-size gym with open gym access and coach-led classes, and it is the only real gym in the Bay Padel chain.
Can a non-member book?
Yes. The club's FAQ states that Bay Padel is not members-only and is open to members and non-members alike, with walk-ins welcome subject to availability. Non-members book seven days out and cancel at twenty-four hours.
What group size suits two courts?
Eight, and that is the point of this club. Eight is everyone on court every round, ten is the comfortable maximum with two resting, and eight is also close enough to complete an Americano if you book ninety minutes rather than an hour.
