Reserve Miami Seaplane: six courts on a former seaplane base
Six glass-enclosed courts on a man-made island in Biscayne Bay, with the downtown skyline behind them and the world's best players here every January — and they are open-air, whatever the directories say.

Six glass-enclosed courts on the historic Watson Island Seaplane Base, a man-made island on the MacArthur Causeway, across fifty thousand square feet with Biscayne Bay and the downtown skyline as the backdrop. The venue's own description: "Spanning 50,000 square-feet, our Reserve Miami Seaplane location features six glass-enclosed padel courts, several viewing areas, a pro-shop, and a full-service food & beverage bar." Its own hero text says five; the six is stated in its body copy and by every other account, so six is the number here with the internal disagreement noted.
These courts are outdoors, and this is the single most important correction on this page. Press reporting at opening called it "the modern, open-air Reserve" with a sunset beachfront deck, and the operator itself never uses the words indoor, covered, roofed or climate-controlled about this site. One directory nonetheless states "6 indoor, 0 outdoor" and "6 indoor padel courts for year-round play", which is flatly false and is precisely the indoor inflation that makes directories unusable for a Miami summer. Plan for weather and for wind: this is an exposed island site.
Non-members can book, and the operator's own booking policy is unusually explicit about the terms: "Non-Members: You may book up to 24 hours in advance. Please note that all bookings are final and non-refundable, and the full booking fee will be charged upon confirmation. Members: Enjoy the flexibility of booking up to 7 days in advance, with an 12-hour cancellation window." Note what that means for a group — as a non-member you are booking inside a day, paying up front, and getting nothing back. Unlike the operator's other sites, this one carries no members-only banner and its amenities are not gated behind membership.
The coaching bench is the strongest in American padel: Juan Martín Díaz, billed by the venue as "14 years world number #1" and its Chief Padel Officer, alongside Gabi Meana, Valentin Ricci, Guillermo Frias, David Ayguavives and Viktorie Wojcikova. This is also the home of the Reserve Cup — the 2026 series opened here in January with Arturo Coello, Agustín Tapia, Alejandro Galán, Coki Nieto and Miguel Yanguas, billed as the largest prize pool in the sport's history. No rate card is published on any surface the operator controls, and the secondary figures in circulation are all "starting at" phrasings, so this page quotes none.
Getting there
Watson Island on the MacArthur Causeway, between downtown Miami and South Beach — a drive rather than a walk, on a man-made island with the bay on both sides. The setting is the reason to come and also the reason the wind matters.
Running a session here
Reserve Miami Seaplane has 6 courts, and a 90-minute booking is the slot to plan around. That fixes almost everything else about the evening.
- Bring 24 to 32 players. 24 is everyone on court every round; past that you are running a sit-out queue, which is fine but somebody has to track it.
- Expect about 6 rounds once you take out warm-up and changeovers — play each to 32 points so every court finishes together and the scores stay comparable.
- At 32 players, 8 people sit out each round. 6 courts tops out at 32 players before the sit-out queue is longer than the court time.
Formats that fit
- Americano a full rotation at 24 players is 23 rounds and the booking holds 6, so you play a slice of it. Fine for an evening, but the standings are a snapshot rather than a complete table.
- Mexicano re-pairs by the standings each round, so the games stay close. 6 rounds is enough for the table to mean something.
- King of the Court needs about 12 rounds to climb 6 courts, and the booking gives 6.
| Courts | Everyone plays | Up to |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 4 | 5 |
| 2 | 8 | 10 |
| 3 | 12 | 16 |
| 4 | 16 | 21 |
| 5 | 20 | 26 |
| 6 | 24 | 32 |
Six courts is twenty-four players on court together and thirty-two before the sit-out queue becomes the session.
Ninety minutes gives six rounds to 32 points, against the twenty-three a full Americano at twenty-four players would need. Run a Mexicano and set one target.
The non-member booking terms are the constraint to plan around, not the price. You cannot book more than twenty-four hours ahead, the full fee is charged on confirmation, and nothing is refundable — so a group booking here is a commitment made the day before with no way out.
All six courts are open-air on an exposed island site. Book early or late in summer, and have a plan for wind, which players report affects play here.
No rate is published anywhere the operator controls. Ask, and disregard the "starting at" figures in circulation.
Common questions
- Are the courts indoors?
- No. All six are open-air, glass-enclosed courts on an island site. The operator never claims indoor, covered or climate-controlled, and a directory stating six indoor courts for year-round play is simply wrong.
- Can non-members book?
- Yes, up to 24 hours in advance — but all such bookings are final and non-refundable, with the full fee charged on confirmation. Members book seven days ahead with a 12-hour cancellation window.
- What does it cost?
- No rate card is published on any surface the operator controls. The figures in circulation are "starting at" phrasings from secondary sources, so we quote none.
- What is the Reserve Cup?
- A professional series hosted here, whose 2026 edition opened at this venue in January with Arturo Coello, Agustín Tapia, Alejandro Galán, Coki Nieto and Miguel Yanguas, billed as the largest prize pool in padel history.
