Woodlands Padel has the best origin story in American padel and it is documented by somebody other than the club. USA Padel's own tournament report tells it: the facility began training juniors almost a decade ago on a single private court in Paloma Varela's back garden, at a time when there were very few padel clubs in the country, and that early commitment produced a hub of junior activity in greater Houston which sent many players to the first USA national junior team. Some of the players competing here in 2026 have been training at this site since 2016. Now there are four courts and a competitive academy that grew alongside the juniors it helped develop.
The club's own About page is warmer than most: established in 2022 with a vision to create a world-class padel experience, four state-of-the-art courts "nestled in the serene natural beauty of The Woodlands", a commitment reflected in hosting Red Padel and USPA tournaments and in top-tier training by international coaches for professional players, including the USA junior team. Its Pro Padel Shop carries nine brands and runs an online store. Its USPA listing is the terse version: a four-court outdoor club with a pro shop and an academy with licensed coaches.
In February 2026 it hosted FIP Promises Woodlands, the first FIP Promises event of the year in the United States — under-12 through under-18, a 32-pair main draw, finishing with an all-American under-18 boys' final on Center Court. That Center Court is a designated show court, though no seating capacity is published anywhere.
The rate card is published and gives both conventions, which is rare and useful: per 90 minutes, $15 a person or $60 a court at peak, and $12 or $48 non-peak. The gap is that the club never defines when peak is. Memberships are listed as individual $120, student $80, couple $200 and family $240 including two children with extra children at $20 — and the page labels them "Prize" without saying whether the figure is monthly or annual. Given the spread and the free bookings included, annual is plausible and unverified, so this page does not assert it. Benefits are stated: exclusive events, 15% off the shop, tournament and league discounts, a five-day booking window, class discounts, free bookings and a welcome pack.
Two practical gaps. The club publishes no opening hours on its own site — two directories give 6:30am to 11pm daily, and an 11pm close means lights. And the booking route is genuinely unresolved: one directory says MATCHi, another says Playtomic, the club's own site has a "Play now" page plus e-commerce cart and account infrastructure, and a third source lists telephone booking. There is no single authoritative answer, so telephone is the reliable route. Four uncovered outdoor courts with no shade, fans or cooling documented anywhere makes the early morning and the lit evening the two sessions that work in summer.
Getting there
510 Hassler Rd in Spring, near Old Town Spring — not in The Woodlands proper, despite the name the club uses on its own About page.
This is a separate business from both U-Padel Club The Woodlands and Lobb's Padel. Three clubs in this area use Woodlands branding and none of them is the other.
Running a session here
Woodlands Padel has 4 courts, and a 90-minute booking is the slot to plan around. That fixes almost everything else about the evening.
- Bring 16 to 21 players. 16 is everyone on court every round; past that you are running a sit-out queue, which is fine but somebody has to track it.
- Expect about 6 rounds once you take out warm-up and changeovers — play each to 32 points so every court finishes together and the scores stay comparable.
- At 21 players, 5 people sit out each round. 4 courts tops out at 21 players before the sit-out queue is longer than the court time.
Formats that fit
- Americano a full rotation at 16 players is 15 rounds and the booking holds 6, so you play a slice of it. Fine for an evening, but the standings are a snapshot rather than a complete table.
- Mexicano re-pairs by the standings each round, so the games stay close. 6 rounds is enough for the table to mean something.
- King of the Court needs about 8 rounds to climb 4 courts, and the booking gives 6.
| Courts | Everyone plays | Up to |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 4 | 5 |
| 2 | 8 | 10 |
| 3 | 12 | 16 |
| 4 | 16 | 21 |
Four courts on the 90 minutes the rate card quotes takes sixteen players with every court full each round and twenty-one at the ceiling, at which five rest at a time. Eighty playable minutes is six rounds to 32 points or ten to 21.
The per-court price makes this one of the cheapest full sessions in the metro: $48 non-peak for a court of four is $12 each, and the whole club at four courts is $192 for up to twenty-one players. The club quotes both per-player and per-court figures, so either arrangement works.
Peak and non-peak are undefined, which is the one thing to settle by phone before booking. The difference is $3 a head, and there is no published window to work it out from.
Four uncovered courts, no documented shade and a probable 11pm close means the lit evening is the summer session. If you are bringing juniors, this is also the strongest junior program in the metro — it fed the first USA national team.
Common questions
- What does it cost to play at Woodlands Padel?
- Per 90 minutes: $15 a player or $60 a court at peak, $12 or $48 non-peak. The club publishes both conventions but never defines its peak and non-peak windows.
- Are the memberships monthly or annual?
- The club does not say. Its page lists $120 individual, $80 student, $200 couple and $240 family under the label "Prize" with no period stated, so this page does not assume one.
- How do I book?
- Unresolved. Directories variously report MATCHi and Playtomic, the club's own site has a Play now page and e-commerce infrastructure, and telephone booking is also listed. Phoning is the reliable route.
- Is there a junior program?
- The strongest in the metro. The academy grew out of a single private court in 2016, fed much of the first USA national junior team, and the club hosted the first FIP Promises event of 2026 in the United States.
