U-Padel opened in early December 2023 and was, at the time, the only indoor padel club in Texas. Its own framing still leads on that: "The Woodlands First Indoor Padel Club In Texas", with "7 state-of-the-art indoor padel courts manufactured specially for U-Padel Club." The club's pitch is the three-part one — "Play on the best courts and learn with the pros from U-Padel Academy. Afterwards enjoy with friends and teammates at our clubhouse" — and unusually, all three parts are documented.

It is one of four venues in this metro that claims active cooling in its own words, and the only one to run it as a headline amenity: "Air Conditioned Courts". Seven of them, indoor, which makes this the largest cooled padel hall in greater Houston. The courts were made to the club's own specification; the surface is reported as artificial turf with sand infill, and no source gives ceiling height, a panoramic-or-walled spec, or a singles or show court.

The rate card is the most complete in the metro, published as three columns, all per player for a 90-minute rental. A non-member pays $28 peak and $23 off-peak. A member at $99 a month pays $20 and $15. A VIP at $219 a month, or one payment of $2,490 a year, pays $15 and $10, and gets twenty free booking passes and ten rentals a month. Advance booking runs 7 days, 10 days and the monthly calendar across the three tiers; event and tournament discounts run 0%, 10% and 25%. A family add-on covering up to three people is $150 on either paid tier. Junior clinics are priced separately: $120 a month once a week, $200 or $240 twice a week, with a $50 annual fee and a $220 sibling rate. Racket damage is $75.

Two things to know before you organize a group here. The cancellation policy is the strictest published by any club in Houston and it puts the risk on whoever books: "Cancellations must be made 6 hours before the scheduled booking to avoid penalty. Failure to cancel within the specified timeframe will incur a full booking fee... The person who initiated the reservation will be charged for any remaining spots not paid for within 2 hours after the game ends." If two people drop out and do not pay, the organizer covers them. And the club gives two different booking answers on its own properties — its own portal at book.upadel.us, which includes a Game Match feature for players looking to fill a reservation, and a homepage FAQ that tells you to use the MATCHi app.

The academy is marketed harder than anything else here, as "the best padel academy in the world" and "the global standard in padel instruction", and it runs three genuine tracks: a professional track for players committing to the sport full time, a coaches' track open from age 18 and affiliated with Euroindoor, and schools for all levels. It has hosted the USPA Inter Club Cup. Off court there is a juice and snack bar with a stated menu — juices and wellness shots, smoothies and bowls, sandwiches, baked goods, coffee and tea — a pro shop carrying Adidas, StarVie, Black Crown, Vibora and Head with online ordering, private showers, and complimentary yoga, stretching and fitness sessions. The club is part of a small Texas chain with a San Antonio site.

Getting there

28408 Sweetgum Rd, Building E. The club brands itself The Woodlands and is physically in Magnolia 77354.

Free parking on site and wheelchair accessible. This is a different business from both Woodlands Padel in Spring and Lobb's Padel on FM 1488, which are easy to confuse by name.

Running a session here

U-Padel Club The Woodlands has 7 courts, and a 90-minute booking is the slot to plan around. That fixes almost everything else about the evening.

  • Bring 28 to 37 players. 28 is everyone on court every round; past that you are running a sit-out queue, which is fine but somebody has to track it.
  • Expect about 6 rounds once you take out warm-up and changeovers — play each to 32 points so every court finishes together and the scores stay comparable.
  • At 37 players, 9 people sit out each round. 7 courts tops out at 37 players before the sit-out queue is longer than the court time.

Formats that fit

  • Americano a full rotation at 28 players is 27 rounds and the booking holds 6, so you play a slice of it. Fine for an evening, but the standings are a snapshot rather than a complete table.
  • Mexicano re-pairs by the standings each round, so the games stay close. 6 rounds is enough for the table to mean something.
  • King of the Court needs about 14 rounds to climb 7 courts, and the booking gives 6.

If you book fewer courts

Seven courts on the club's own 90-minute rental is the second-largest session in the metro: twenty-eight players with every court full each round, thirty-seven at the ceiling, at which nine people rest at a time. Eighty playable minutes is six rounds to 32 points or ten to 21.

At twenty-eight players an Americano is a twenty-seven-round rotation and no booking fits it. Run a Mexicano, which needs six rounds and gets six here at 32 points and ten at 21, or split into three pools of eight to twelve across two or three courts each.

The per-player rate means group size does not change what anybody pays, so the tiers are the only lever: a regular group is better off with one person on VIP using twenty free booking passes than with everyone paying $28 a head at peak.

Warn the group about the cancellation terms before booking. Six hours is a short window, and the person who made the reservation is charged for any places left unpaid two hours after the game ends — so collect money on the night rather than afterwards.

Common questions

Are U-Padel's courts air-conditioned?
Yes. The club runs "Air Conditioned Courts" as a headline amenity in its own words, across all seven indoor courts — the largest cooled padel hall in greater Houston.
What does a session cost?
Per player for 90 minutes: $23 off-peak and $28 peak as a non-member, $15 and $20 on the $99 monthly membership, and $10 and $15 on VIP at $219 a month or $2,490 a year.
What is the cancellation policy?
Six hours before the booking, or the full fee applies. The person who made the reservation is also charged for any places not paid for within two hours after the game ends.
How do I book?
Through the club's own portal at book.upadel.us, which has a Game Match feature for finding players. Its own homepage FAQ instead points to the MATCHi app, so both answers come from the club.
