Start with the rule, because it is the one thing here that will ruin an evening if nobody reads it. The club's own padel page states: "Minimum players: 4 registered players required at least 5 hours before start time. Reservations without minimum players are automatically canceled." And underneath it: "Cancellations: No-shows or cancellations within 5 hours incur a $35 per person charge." No other padel club we have looked at takes the court back on its own initiative for want of a fourth name, and nobody in Dallas charges as much for a late drop-out. If you organize here, your group is confirmed by lunchtime or it is not playing.

Everything else about NTRC is refreshingly plain. Four lit outdoor padel courts, a count it states three times across its own site and which local press corroborates alongside seven tennis and six pickleball courts. Non-member padel is $20 for 90 minutes off-peak and $35 at peak, and the club removes the usual ambiguity itself: "Non-member court fees are charged per person. An online account is required to book." So a foursome pays $80 on a Tuesday afternoon and $140 on a Wednesday evening. Peak is Monday to Thursday 7–10pm and Saturday 7am to noon; everything else is off-peak.

The name is the trap this city sets twice. A racquet club in Texas usually means members only, and here it emphatically does not — the club runs a section of its own membership page headed "No Membership Required" and puts the pay-as-you-play prices under it for all three sports. Non-members book up to 24 hours ahead against a member's seven days, and walk-ins are welcome off-peak with two players, which is the only walk-up padel in Dallas.

It is entirely outdoor and the club never pretends otherwise; its own explainer defines padel as played "on an outdoor court". For Frisco that is the most useful fact on this page and it is also why the rate card reads the way it does: the cool hours are the cheap ones. A 7am Saturday in August is $20 a head and lit courts make a 9pm start normal, while the middle of a July afternoon on four unshaded courts is a decision rather than a booking. There is no cover here and no cooling, and nobody claims either.

The padel program is the deepest of the four Dallas clubs and it is described in the club's own words rather than listed. A Beginner Clinic covering grip, positioning, strokes, scoring and rules with no experience required; a Ladies-Only Beginner Night on Wednesdays; an Intermediate Clinic for WPR 4–8 built on shot selection, tactical positioning and doubles strategy; a Fit Clinic for footwork, agility and endurance; and a Shot of the Day Clinic that spends a session on one shot — the bandeja, the vibora, the smash or the lob. Ratings are WPR, and coaching staff "includes national champions and certified professionals".

The one to know about if you are reading this page at all is the Padel Americano every Sunday at 10am: rotating partners across three skill levels, minimum four participants. That is the format this app was built to run, already on a club's own calendar, and it is the easiest way into a group here without organizing one yourself.

If you do want to commit, the padel membership is $159 a month for an individual, $209 for a couple and $250 for a family, with off-peak court time included and peak reservations at $10 per person for 90 minutes; a Premium All Sports tier runs $209 and adds tennis and pickleball. All memberships need 30 days' written notice to cancel. One thing to query rather than repeat: the club's own table lists the padel family annual at $3,399, the same figure as the Premium All Sports family annual, while the monthly rates differ by $59 — most likely a typo on their side.

Getting there

6545 All Stars Avenue in Frisco, about 30 miles north of downtown Dallas, with ample on-site parking. Phone bookings go through (469) 430-9399 ext. 2.

This is Collin County, not Dallas — allow for the drive. Beware the "daily 6am–12pm" hours circulating on two padel directories: those belong to a different Farmers Branch venue whose website has since gone dark, not to NTRC.

Running a session here

North Texas Racquet Club has 4 courts, and a 90-minute booking is the slot to plan around. That fixes almost everything else about the evening.

  • Bring 16 to 21 players. 16 is everyone on court every round; past that you are running a sit-out queue, which is fine but somebody has to track it.
  • Expect about 6 rounds once you take out warm-up and changeovers — play each to 32 points so every court finishes together and the scores stay comparable.
  • At 21 players, 5 people sit out each round. 4 courts tops out at 21 players before the sit-out queue is longer than the court time.

Formats that fit

  • Americano a full rotation at 16 players is 15 rounds and the booking holds 6, so you play a slice of it. Fine for an evening, but the standings are a snapshot rather than a complete table.
  • Mexicano re-pairs by the standings each round, so the games stay close. 6 rounds is enough for the table to mean something.
  • King of the Court needs about 8 rounds to climb 4 courts, and the booking gives 6.

If you book fewer courts

Four courts seat sixteen, and sixteen is the number that makes this club worth the drive. Twenty-one is the ceiling; past that people are watching rather than resting.

A 90-minute slot leaves 80 minutes of play, which is six rounds to 32 points — enough for a real Mexicano ladder rather than a knockabout.

Confirm four names by five hours before start, every time. The club cancels the reservation itself if they are not registered, and a cancellation inside five hours costs $35 a person.

Book off-peak if the group is paying its own way. Sixteen players at $20 is $320 for 90 minutes; the same session Wednesday at 7pm is $560. Peak is only Monday to Thursday evenings and Saturday morning, so a Friday or Sunday evening is cheap and lit.

Non-members get 24 hours' notice, which is tight for a group of sixteen. Either somebody in the group takes a membership for the seven-day window, or you accept planning inside a day.

The Sunday 10am Americano runs to three skill levels with a four-player minimum, and joining it is a better first visit than organizing against a 24-hour window and an auto-cancel rule.

Common questions

Do you need to be a member to play padel at NTRC?
No. The club runs a "No Membership Required" section on its own membership page with pay-as-you-play prices for padel, tennis and pickleball. You need an online account to book, and non-members book up to 24 hours ahead.
What does padel cost here?
$20 per person for 90 minutes off-peak and $35 per person at peak, charged per person by the club's own statement. Peak is Monday to Thursday 7–10pm and Saturday 7am to noon. Racket rental is $10.
What is the four-player minimum?
Four registered players must be on the booking at least five hours before start time or the reservation is canceled automatically. A no-show or a cancellation inside five hours costs $35 per person.
Are the courts covered?
No. All four are outdoor and lit, built to international standards in the club's words, with no cover and no cooling claimed. The rate card prices the cool hours cheaper, which is the practical answer to a Frisco summer.
Can you turn up without booking?
Off-peak, yes — the club says walk-ins are welcome during non-peak hours with two players. At peak you need a reservation and four registered players.
