Beda Padel: one court, and nobody else booked in around you

Beda Padel calls itself a private indoor venue and the point of it is the arithmetic: one court, so whoever books the hour has the building. The venue's own list is specific — one indoor court to international dimensions, separate men's and women's bathrooms, a large mushola, a hangout room with a lot of soft seating, a ceiling of roughly nine metres it credits for the air moving, a modern sound system each booking can put its own music through, and food and drink available on site. Reviews are few and unanimous: 5.0 across 29, with one of them saying simply that it is good for practising. Rawalumbu, open 06:00 to midnight.

It is also, for a small venue, carefully governed. Non-refundable and non-reschedulable. Late minutes are gone. No studs. Outside food and drink are out except a meal you packed at home, which is a distinction almost no other Bekasi listing bothers to make. No metal jewellery on court, no leaning on or hitting the glass, no spitting, no throwing a racket at the glass, no pets. Schedules can change with at least seven days' WhatsApp notice, and coach or private bookings go through WhatsApp rather than the app.

One court is four on court and a ceiling of five. That is the rare Bekasi booking where an hour actually finishes a four-player Americano — three rounds needed, six available — so this is where a group of four goes to play a complete rotation rather than a slice of one.

The sound system is under your control and there is nobody on the next court to annoy. For a group learning the format, being able to talk over the rotation is worth more than a fourth wall of glass.
