Three courts, and each one is named after an ancient commander: Marco Valerio, Giulio Cesare and Leonida. That is not decoration in a brochure — it is how they appear in the booking system, so picking a slot here means picking Caesar or Leonidas. Legio means legion, the tagline is "where legends play", and the theme runs all the way down to the reservation grid.
The membership is $99 a year, and it is worth pausing on that number because of what it sits next to. In this county a padel membership costs $99 a month at Xcel Westlake, $150 at Xcel West Palm Beach, $250 at The Replay Club and $2,500 a year at Padel X. Here $99 buys a whole year: a fifty-one percent discount on all courts, priority booking, special rates for tournaments and clinics, and member events. The club's own headline for members is "$19 per match", carried twice on its site — and it footnotes that figure with an asterisk it never explains, so treat it as the shape of the deal rather than a guaranteed price. Payment through the booking system is split per player, and the club's own instructions say each player pays their part before the match starts, so $19 is a per-player number.
The non-member court rate is not published anywhere. The club's site has no rates page — it runs five pages in total — and the booking system does not show slot prices without an account. The arithmetic is tempting and this page will not do it: multiplying a footnoted member price by a rounded discount is not a rate, and the discount may not apply to every session length. Sessions come in sixty, ninety and one hundred and twenty minutes.
The club is a tenant inside a tennis academy and says so plainly: "our Club is within One Tennis Academy facilities in Boca Raton, easy to reach by car." Its three padel courts and six pickleball courts sit on somebody else's campus, which is why the booking grid has nine rows and only three of them are padel. All three padel courts are outdoor doubles courts, tagged that way in the club's own configuration.
There is a live camera stream of the courts, and for an uncooled outdoor club twenty-six miles from downtown that is a more practical answer to the Florida climate than any cooling claim. The club ships a page for it with a real video player and a conditions readout, and it tells you when the camera is off rather than showing a frozen frame. Nothing else in Palm Beach County has one. What the club does claim about the courts themselves is Italian-made construction with hurricane-resistant glass and "adjustable covers" — its own phrase, unexplained anywhere, over courts its booking system still tags outdoor. So: outdoor padel, no cooling claimed, and something the club calls adjustable covers that it never describes.
The café is the other reason to come, and the club's own description is quotable: "enjoy smoothies, granitas, protein shakes, and authentic Italian specialties like Grattachecca and cappuccino", a selection of Italian wines and light beers, "weekend parties on our second level", and "comfortable seating areas, tables, and gazebos with a large screen to follow ongoing matches and events". For three courts, that is a disproportionate amount of somewhere to sit.
Three doubles courts seat twelve players with nobody sitting out, sixteen with rotation — the smallest capacity in Palm Beach County, where the next step up is sixteen and the largest hall holds forty-eight. A ninety-minute booking gives about six rounds at a points target of 32, which for twelve people is a genuinely good evening even though a full Americano rotation among twelve would need eleven rounds. The club names its own busy window in its booking guide: prime time is 6 to 9pm.
Two practical details. Cash is not accepted — that is a switch in the club's own booking configuration, not an inference. And there is a signable liability waiver on the club's site, with a clause for minors, governed under the laws of Boca Raton, Palm Beach County and Florida. Members get a twenty-four-hour cancellation window; for everyone else the club defers to the app, and its own note is that your court is released immediately and refunds follow the policy shown there. A changing room is confirmed, lockers are switched off, and showers are never mentioned.
Getting there
9045 Vista Del Lago in west Boca Raton, inland of I-95 and about twenty-six miles from downtown West Palm Beach — the furthest venue in this bucket, at the southwestern edge of the county and closer to Broward. If you are driving from West Palm Beach, check the live court stream before you set off.
Parking is both free and private, confirmed in the club's own configuration, which is what being a tenant on a tennis academy campus buys.
Doors are 7am to 10pm, the same window every day of the week including weekends — one of only two clubs in the county with no weekday and weekend difference at all.
Bring a card. The club does not take cash, and the booking system splits payment between players before the match rather than settling up afterwards.
Running a session here
LEGIO GP has 3 courts, and a 90-minute booking is the slot to plan around. That fixes almost everything else about the evening.
- Bring 12 to 16 players. 12 is everyone on court every round; past that you are running a sit-out queue, which is fine but somebody has to track it.
- Expect about 6 rounds once you take out warm-up and changeovers — play each to 32 points so every court finishes together and the scores stay comparable.
- At 16 players, 4 people sit out each round. 3 courts tops out at 16 players before the sit-out queue is longer than the court time.
Formats that fit
- Americano a full rotation at 12 players is 11 rounds and the booking holds 6, so you play a slice of it. Fine for an evening, but the standings are a snapshot rather than a complete table.
- Mexicano re-pairs by the standings each round, so the games stay close. 6 rounds is enough for the table to mean something.
- King of the Court winners move up a court, losers move down. Works from 6 rounds on 3 courts.
| Courts | Everyone plays | Up to |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 4 | 5 |
| 2 | 8 | 10 |
| 3 | 12 | 16 |
For a group of twelve that plays regularly, the $99 annual membership is the cheapest committed padel in Palm Beach County by an order of magnitude, and the club's own member headline is $19 a match. Both figures come with the caveat that the club footnotes the $19 and never explains the footnote.
You cannot work out what a one-off visit costs from public sources. The non-member rate is published nowhere and the booking grid needs an account, so phone ahead if the price decides the evening.
Three doubles courts hold twelve players with everybody on court and sixteen with rotation. That is the smallest room in the county, so a group above sixteen needs one of the bigger halls — and remember six of the nine rows in the booking grid are pickleball.
Check the live stream before you drive. These are outdoor courts with no cooling claimed and no roof, twenty-six miles from downtown, and the club runs a camera and a conditions page precisely so you do not arrive to find out.
Prime time is 6 to 9pm in the club's own words, so an evening slot for three courts is worth booking early.
The club's own history page is unwritten — it still ships placeholder text in production — so there is nothing reliable to be found about who founded it. Names circulate on directory sites; they are not verifiable.
Common questions
- Do I need a membership to play at LEGIO GP?
- No. The club states it twice: "no membership required to play, but members save over 50% on court fees", and in its own hero, "no membership required — book and play anytime". The membership is $99 a year and buys a fifty-one percent court discount, priority booking, tournament and clinic rates and member events, which is the cheapest padel membership in Palm Beach County by a wide margin.
- What does a court cost?
- The non-member rate is not published anywhere — the club's site has no rates page and its booking system does not show slot prices without an account. Members are quoted "$19 per match", carried twice on the club's site with an asterisk it never explains. Payment is split per player before the match, so that is a per-player figure rather than a court one. Sessions run sixty, ninety or one hundred and twenty minutes.
- Are the courts covered?
- All three are outdoor and the booking system tags them that way. The club advertises Italian-made courts with hurricane-resistant glass and "adjustable covers", which is its own phrase and is not explained on any page — so this is outdoor padel with no cooling claimed and something the club calls a cover that it never describes. It does run a live court camera and a conditions page, which is the practical answer.
- How many padel courts are there?
- Three, named PADEL 1: MARCO VALERIO, PADEL 2: GIULIO CESARE and PADEL 3: LEONIDA. The booking grid has nine rows because six of them are pickleball courts. The club sits inside One Tennis Academy's facilities in Boca Raton and says so on its own site, which is why the campus is bigger than the padel operation.
- How many people can play in one booking?
- Three doubles courts seat twelve players with nobody resting and sixteen with rotation — the smallest capacity in Palm Beach County. A ninety-minute slot gives about six rounds at a points target of 32, which suits twelve people well; a full rotation among twelve would need eleven rounds, so play for a result rather than for every partner.
