PADL is opening in August 2026 in a business park in Dortmund-Körne, in the hall that was the Soccer City Center until its lease ran out at the end of March. The court mix is the interesting part and it is unusually deliberate: seven panorama courts, one panorama tournament court with a grandstand, four singles courts, one kids court, and two pickleball courts. That is thirteen padel courts plus pickleball, and the operator claims the largest padel hall in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The four singles courts are the detail worth noticing, because almost no German venue builds more than one. Four means a pair who could not find a second pair still has somewhere to play at a busy hour, which changes what a spontaneous evening looks like. The tournament court with a grandstand is the other unusual piece — a final with somewhere to sit is a different event from a final on court six.
What we cannot tell you yet is the price. The operator says rates and memberships will be published shortly before opening, and this page will not guess at them. Booking is planned as Playtomic, online, seven days a week, with variable session lengths aimed at people who work. A restaurant, bar, lounge, changing rooms, lockers, WiFi and parking are all part of the plan, along with tournaments, leagues and venue events — the 'social venue' half of the name.
Getting there
Zinkhüttenweg 11 in a Körne business park in the east of the city, close to the B1 and B236 and reachable from the A1, A2 and A45. It is an industrial estate rather than a neighbourhood, so this is a drive.
Running a session here
PADL - The Social Padel Club has 8 courts, and a 60-minute booking is the slot to plan around. That fixes almost everything else about the evening.
- Bring 32 to 42 players. 32 is everyone on court every round; past that you are running a sit-out queue, which is fine but somebody has to track it.
- Expect about 6 rounds once you take out warm-up and changeovers — play each to 21 points so every court finishes together and the scores stay comparable.
- At 42 players, 10 people sit out each round. 8 courts tops out at 42 players before the sit-out queue is longer than the court time.
- The 4 singles courts are left out of those numbers — they seat two, so they take no round of a four-player rotation. Useful for a warm-up, or for whoever is sitting one out.
Formats that fit
- Americano a full rotation at 32 players is 31 rounds and the booking holds 6, so you play a slice of it. Fine for an evening, but the standings are a snapshot rather than a complete table.
- Mexicano re-pairs by the standings each round, so the games stay close. 6 rounds is enough for the table to mean something.
- King of the Court needs about 16 rounds to climb 8 courts, and the booking gives 6.
| Courts | Everyone plays | Up to |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 4 | 5 |
| 2 | 8 | 10 |
| 3 | 12 | 16 |
| 4 | 16 | 21 |
| 5 | 20 | 26 |
| 6 | 24 | 32 |
| 7 | 28 | 37 |
| 8 | 32 | 42 |
Eight doubles courts is thirty-two players on court and a ceiling of forty-two, with ten resting each round at the top end. At thirty-two an Americano needs thirty-one rounds against the six an hour gives at 21 points, so a group this size runs a Mexicano and nothing else.
The court mix rewards planning that no other hall in the region allows. Put the group's final on the tournament court and it has an audience; park the two strongest players on a singles court while the rotation resets; give a beginner the kids court for twenty minutes rather than losing them in a round of four.
Because prices are not out yet, agree the split with your group after the rates appear rather than before. A thirteen-court opening hall will price its peak evenings at the top of the local range, and the venue's own launch offers are the thing to watch for.
For a group of eight, book two courts, not eight — the ladder below is the whole point of a hall this size.
