Backyard Padel is on Jl. M.H. Sanim in Kukusan, Beji, a few streets from the UI campus edge, and it describes itself in a way almost nothing else in Depok does: a friendly padel space where people come to play, connect and enjoy the game without pressure, whether it is a first time or a weekly ritual. Behind that there are three indoor courts on premium turf, a mushola, showers and both kinds of parking. Its 4.96 across 47 Ayo reviews is the highest score in this city's set, on a modest number of ratings.
The rules are grouped rather than numbered, and the booking clause is the one to read twice: every booking goes through the Ayo app, and payment is card or QRIS only, under PT Jaya Dipa Manggala. On court it is mineral water and nothing else — no other drinks, no food, no pets, smoking and vaping only in the marked areas. Rackets and towels rent at reception and you carry the loss if one goes missing, parking is paid at reception and you keep the receipt, and the venue may photograph a session for promotion unless you say otherwise.
Getting there
Jl. M.H. Sanim No.14-26, Kukusan, Beji — the west side of Depok near the UI campus edge, not Cinere and not Cimanggis. Rivale Arena is the other Kukusan venue if this grid is full.
Running a session here
Backyard Padel has 3 courts, and a 60-minute booking is the slot to plan around. That fixes almost everything else about the evening.
- Bring 12 to 16 players. 12 is everyone on court every round; past that you are running a sit-out queue, which is fine but somebody has to track it.
- Expect about 6 rounds once you take out warm-up and changeovers — play each to 21 points so every court finishes together and the scores stay comparable.
- At 16 players, 4 people sit out each round. 3 courts tops out at 16 players before the sit-out queue is longer than the court time.
Formats that fit
- Americano a full rotation at 12 players is 11 rounds and the booking holds 6, so you play a slice of it. Fine for an evening, but the standings are a snapshot rather than a complete table.
- Mexicano re-pairs by the standings each round, so the games stay close. 6 rounds is enough for the table to mean something.
- King of the Court winners move up a court, losers move down. Works from 6 rounds on 3 courts.
| Courts | Everyone plays | Up to |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 4 | 5 |
| 2 | 8 | 10 |
| 3 | 12 | 16 |
Three courts is twelve on court and sixteen with a rotating queue. An hour at twelve will not finish an Americano rotation, so plan a Mexicano and let the table settle rather than promising everyone meets everyone.
Tell the group the payment method before they arrive: card or QRIS in the Ayo app, so a group used to paying cash at reception is going to be stuck at the door.
