Austin Padel Center occupies the building that used to be Wonderspaces Austin, an immersive art gallery that ran from 2020 until it closed in 2025. That is a good enough fact to lead with, and it also explains the shape of the place: a single large box off Sheldon Cove in North Austin, now holding three panoramic padel courts, a bar, private meeting rooms and a recovery area with a sauna and a cold plunge. Its neighbour is Mesa Rim, a 50,000 sq ft climbing gym with 55-foot walls, in a development its landlord describes as somewhere sport, art and community converge.

The court count needs stating carefully, because three separate numbers are on the record and they are three years apart in ambition. The club's own description says "3 indoor climate-controlled courts and 2 outdoor courts". Its developer's portfolio page and the November 2025 announcement both describe a purpose-built 22,000 sq ft complex with six indoor and three outdoor courts. Community Impact and Hoodline reported in August 2026 that nine climate-controlled indoor courts had opened on the 7th. What the booking system sells, checked on 27 August 2026, is three: Padel 1, Padel 2 and Padel 3, each listed as indoor, doubles and panoramic, on a tenant still named Austin Padel Center Pop-Up. This page is built on that three, and everything below — group sizes included — follows from it. If you are planning something that needs six courts or nine, call first.

The founder is Benno van Veggel of the van Veggel Family Office, working with Metis Capital, the developer of the Sheldon Cove site. His own words on the plan: "After decades developing real estate and operating sports businesses — many centered on racket sports — we're thrilled to bring the Padel Center brand to Austin with the support of Metis Capital. Our vision is to make Austin Padel Center a true destination where sport, community, and culture intersect." The pop-up opened in February 2026 as the first stage of that.

There is no published court rate. Four memberships are on sale — an Early Bird at $99 a month with one free off-peak match a day, a Summer Indoor Pass at $159 covering fourteen bookings a month between 7am and 4pm, a Founding membership at $179 monthly or $1,490 for the year — and each of them refers to "standard non-member court rates" without anywhere stating what those are. The Summer Pass is capped at fifty memberships and sold May to September on the pitch "beat the Austin heat all summer long", which tells you what the indoor courts are for. Programming is priced in full where court time is not: clinics $48, the youth program $28, open play $30, Padel + Pizza $40 on Friday evenings, and a five-hour 24-player Saturday called Hit&Sips: Padel Allll Day at $20.

The cheapest way to find out whether you like padel here costs nothing. A free 45-minute Intro to Padel runs twice a day, at 9am and 5pm, with Coach Alain Miranda, who is also named on the beginner clinics and the youth program. That is the club's own answer to the problem every new padel city has, and it is a better first booking than a court you are not sure how to use.

One gap worth knowing before you go looking: this club has no website. There is no austinpadelcenter.com; its public presence is its Playtomic tenant, its Instagram and its developer's portfolio page. Everything above that is the club's own comes from the first of those.

Getting there

1205 Sheldon Cove, Unit 2-A, in the Sheldon Cove development off US-183 in North Austin. Free parking on site, and Mesa Rim Climbing Gym is the neighbour to aim for if the signage is unclear.

The address to be careful with: the permanent flagship was announced for Building 4, Suite A-H, while the pop-up is Unit 2-A in the former Wonderspaces box. August 2026 coverage of the larger club puts it at Suite 2-A, suggesting the build-out stayed put. Unit 2-A is where the bookable courts are.

Three courts seat twelve players at once, which is the number to build a group around. Sixteen is workable and means four people off court in every round; past that you are running a waiting list.

The club publishes no court rate and no session length, so this page carries no round-by-round plan — inventing a slot length would produce numbers that look calculated and are not. Ask what a 90-minute booking costs when you call, and whether the outdoor courts its description mentions can be booked.

If your group is new to padel, the free Intro to Padel at 9am or 5pm takes 45 minutes and costs nothing, and two of those will teach eight people more than an hour of court time will.

The Summer Indoor Pass runs 7am to 4pm, which in an Austin July is the hottest part of the day — on indoor courts, that is the point rather than a catch. It is the one membership here priced around the weather.

Common questions

How many courts does Austin Padel Center have?
Three are bookable: Padel 1 to 3, indoor and panoramic, checked on its own booking system in August 2026. The club's own description mentions two outdoor courts as well, its developer described six indoor and three outdoor, and local press reported nine indoor courts opening on 7 August 2026.
Are the courts air-conditioned?
The club describes its indoor courts as climate-controlled, and it is the only venue in Austin that makes that claim. It publishes no temperature or system detail beyond the word.
What does it cost to book a court?
The club does not say. Its memberships run $99 to $179 a month and each refers to standard non-member court rates without publishing them. Classes and socials are priced: clinics $48, open play $30, and the Intro to Padel is free.
Can a non-member play here?
Yes — the memberships themselves refer to non-member court rates, so pay-and-play exists. Cancellation is 12 hours and the booking window is 7 to 14 days depending on tier.
